Wendy S. Smith, Human Resources and Labor Relations Consultant
Human Resources and Labor Relations
I began my career with the County in April 2013 as a Typist Clerk for the Human Resources and Labor Relations Department. In September 2013, I was promoted to Team Coordinator for Karlyn Semlow and her team. In September of 2017, I became a Human Resources and Labor Relations Consultant. I provide strategic solutions and guidance on a variety of human resources related matters for Friend of the Court, Circuit Court, Family Court, Probate Court, and the 42nd District Courts. Prior to joining the County, I worked in the private sector for manufacturing based companies. I found manufacturing and assembly line work wasn’t for me, so I left that field and went back to school. I completed my Bachelor’s degree in 2013, and earned my Master’s degree in 2017. The County’s Human Resources and Labor Relations Department provides a varied and challenging opportunity to interact and engage with talented people from many different backgrounds and experiences. I enjoy working in the public sector and appreciate the opportunity to serve our employees as well as the residents of Macomb County.
