Macomb County provides an Employee Assistance Program through Ulliance.  Ulliance offers professional services and support to all Macomb County employees and their family members to help deal with life’s everyday challenges and problems.

457 Deferred Compensation

Deferred Compensation

Effective January 2013, Macomb County Deferred Compensation Plan and Trust has moved to Vanguard for record keeping and fund management.

To begin participation, please review the investment tools and information links provided below, then complete and return the Enrollment Form by mail or fax to Vanguard. Vanguard will establish your account in the Plan and electronically transmit your deduction amount to the County to enter and maintain your payroll deduction.

All other information and account maintenance will be handled directly with Vanguard Participant Services at 800-523-1188.

Flexible Spending Account

Macomb County offers flexible spending accounts for both medical and dependent care expenses. Flexible spending accounts set aside funds for eligible medical and/or dependent care expenses. IRS guidelines apply. Employees contribute to their flexible spending accounts on a pre-tax basis through convenient payroll deduction.

Short Term Disability

Macomb County partners with AFLAC to provide a short term disability product at great group rates. This is a voluntary benefit purchased by employees on a post-tax basis through payroll deduction.

Long Term Care

Full time employees can purchase long term care insurance for themselves and their spouse on a post-tax basis through convenient payroll deductions. Covered expenses include care at home through a home care agency, assisted living facilities, or a nursing home. Hospice care is also covered.

Supplemental Term Life Insurance

The Hartford’s supplemental life insurance offers life insurance to full-time employees and their dependents.  Employees may purchase supplemental life insurance in increments of $25,000 and may purchase spousal coverage in either $25,000 or $50,000 amounts.  Employees may also purchase coverage for their children in the amounts of $5,000 or $10,000.


Michigan Education Savings Program (MESP)

MESP is a state sponsored, tax advantaged 529 college savings plan that’s helping families and individuals plan for the cost of higher education. Macomb County makes saving for college easier by allowing employees to contribute to their accounts via a convenient, post-tax payroll deduction.

Pet Insurance

Macomb County recognizes that family includes “fur babies!”  Full time employees can purchase medical insurance for their pets through convenient post-tax payroll deductions. The plan offers three options: Major Medical plan + Wellness, Major Medical plan or Pet Wellness plan. Employees may use the veterinarian of their choice.

Legal Shield

Legal Shield’s legal plan offers full time employees the ability to speak with an attorney regarding any personal legal matter without worrying about the cost. Services include assistance with real estate matters, speeding tickets and will preparation, among others.

Critical Care Protection

AFLAC’s Critical Care policy provides financial peace of mind to full time employees who experience a serious health event such as a heart attack or stroke. Benefits are paid directly to the employee and may be used for any out of pocket expenses.
