Mia Mezini, Team Coordinator
Human Resources and Labor Relations
I began my career with the County in August 2015 as a Typist Clerk in the County Clerk’s Office. In the short time I was in the County Clerk’s office, I was promoted to Computer Maintenance Clerk and then to Judicial Court Clerk. As Judicial Court Clerk, I provided support to our Circuit Court judges and their staff to ensure a smooth running Court docket. In April 2015, I became a part of the Retirement Services team in the Human Resources and Labor Department (HRLR) where I assisted employees through the retirement process by providing information and guidance and preparing final retirement calculations. In October 2017, I was promoted to my current position of Team Coordinator for both Karlyn Semlow and Brian Jack’s teams. In my new position, I coordinate labor and employee relations meetings, maintain confidential files for sensitive matters such as discipline or Employee Assistance Program referrals and process unemployment claims. Prior to joining the County, I worked overseas for the European Union where I gained the experience of working in a fast-paced, challenging and exciting atmosphere with exposure to many different cultures and backgrounds that carries over well into my new position here in HRLR. I enjoy working in the public sector and appreciate the opportunity to serve our employees as well as the residents of Macomb County.
